Historical Lift Off Captured in 3D by Crew of Cosmic Journey: Through Hubble and Cassini

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA (February 25, 2011) — The Kallisti Media crew of Cosmic Journey: Through Hubble and Cassini reports an amazingly successful shoot that captured the opening sequence of the film — Space Shuttle Discovery’s final lift off.

The breathtaking 3D footage was shot in real-time digital high speed at 500fps at a distance only 300 feet away from the launching pad. Producer/Director, Jonathan Kitzen, said “the crew was able to work in a bunker with the support of NASA to capture this historical moment. This special footage will become the opening sequence of the film.”

Cosmic Journey takes viewers through the universe among stunning new motion and stereoscopic rendered images from Hubble and Cassini. Audiences are immersed in the amazing depth of the clouds of Jupiter, and approach scores of gaseous nebula and a host of spectacular far-away galaxies. With an engaging sound mix and informational graphics to help the viewer understand what they are seeing, audiences will get an experience of traveling through space like never before.

A two minute clip of Cosmic Journey is being shown in 3D during the Digital Films in Production session during the GSCA Film Expo on Los Angeles, March 8-10. The finished film will have a run time of approximately 17 minutes. It is distributed worldwide by BIG & Digital and is releasing on May 20, 2011 in 15/70mm and Digital in both 3D and 2D.
