The Bedford Times Register reviews Tornado Alley currently playing at the Great Lakes Science Center’s Omnimax Theatre:

Usually, when people hear that a tornado is heading their way, they will immediately find the nearest and safest shelter possible.

But a team of researchers and a filmmaker, armed with specialized equipment, head right into the storm, hoping to gather crucial data and film. Their efforts are captured in “Tornado Alley,” an IMAX movie which opened at the Great Lake Science Center’s Omnimax Theatre in March.

I went to see the movie May 16, when there were several school groups at the Great Lakes Science Center. The audience I saw seemed to be older school age, and they all seemed to enjoy the film. While the storm sequences were intense, there’s also a lot of information packed into the 45-minute film on the science of how tornados form and how scientists try to find out more about these potentially deadly and unpredictable forces of nature.
