Wilmington, NC to get digital IMAX

The Greater Wilmington Business Journal reports:

A popular motion picture film concept will soon be debuting at the Mayfaire Stadium 16 movie theatre.

Paige Kon, Mayfaire marketing director, said the town center’s development office was notified last week of Regal Theatre’s plans to convert one of its theatre screens into an IMAX format.

Four permits totaling $55,000 were filed Monday with the New Hanover County Inspections Department, confirming pending activity for an IMAX theatre conversion.

Regal Entertainment officials confirmed Wednesday that the theatre would be updated with the new projection equipment, and would be ready for viewing this summer.
