BIG & Digital retains Cherie Larson Rivers as consultant for film distribution and operations
June 20, 2012 – 12:24 pmJune 20, 2012 — (Las Vegas, Nevada) BIG & Digital is pleased to announce that they have retained the services of Cherie Larson Rivers as a consultant for film distribution and operations. Rivers has over 25 years experience in giant screen theaters at three major science centers in the United States.
Rivers will represent BIG & Digital’s Kids’ Corner Movies for Kids 2-7 as well as several digital and 15/70mm films, including Dragons: Real Myths and Unreal Creatures releasing in October 2012.
While Rivers remains in a part-time position for Jersey City’s Liberty Science Center as a consultant for programming their giant screen and digital 3D theaters, her background included a recent position as Director of Featured Experiences where she was responsible for researching, recommending, and implementing all traveling exhibitions, giant screen and digital 3D films. In addition, she oversaw the leasing, management, and touring of Liberty Science Center’s traveling exhibitions.
Prior to this, Rivers served for over 20 years as Manager of Omni and 3D Theaters at the Museum of Science in Boston. Joining the Museum of Science in 1986, she prepared the IMAX® Dome Theater for its grand opening, was responsible for all aspects of the theater technical operation and visitor services, and in 2004 was tasked with the successful analysis, implementation, and transformation of an existing theater into a new Digital 3D Cinema. Rivers began her career Seattle’s Pacific Science Center in 1982, where she operated the IMAX projector and worked at a variety of other theaters in the Seattle area.
Rivers currently serves on the Professional Development Committee of the Giant Screen Cinema Association (GSCA) and has served on their Board of Directors as well as the Board for the Large Format Cinema Association (LFCA).
