Some big projects are coming to Pooler – including an IMAX movie theater and ten acre water park. Construction crews are hard at work throughout the city. New businesses seem to be popping up everywhere.
“You can’t stop growth,” said Mike Lamb, the mayor of Pooler. “People will develop land. People own land. The best thing you can do is make sure it’s good growth and that it works well with our residents.”
One of the biggest projects is happening on Towne Center Drive. Developers are building a $40 million family entertainment complex featuring a roller skating rink, a 350 seat IMAX movie theater with a 40 by 70 foot screen, and a ten acre water park across the street. Developers hope to break ground on the water park site later this year or early next year and want to have the water park
open by April 2014.Consultants for the project said the location was a key reason for building in Pooler. “You have I-95. You have I-16. There’s enough land to expand which is a big advantage,” said Stefan Erkl, the project’s consultant. “The city of Pooler is very nice to work with.”
