Space Junk’s Don Kessler talks danger of orbital debris

Retired Head of NASA’s Orbital Debris Office, Don Kessler, discusses the danger of orbital debris as featured in the film Space Junk 3D:

Worrying about the environment on Earth has become a mainstream idea, but what about the environment above it? Right now, orbiting above Earth is about 6000 tons of space junk.

The new IMAX film, Space Junk 3D, is opening at the Museum of Nature and Science in Denver on the danger space junk poses.

This story demonstrates one that hasn’t been told before, and many people don’t think about. It shows just how deeply we are connected to space.
