Director David Lickley talks filmmaking

The Sudbury Star profiles documentary filmmaker, David Lickley, whose latest film, Wonders of the Arctic, premieres March 6 in Sudbury.

The recent spate of frigid weather has felt like a breath of fresh — or moderate, anyway — air to David Lickley.

Not so long ago, the Sudbury-based filmmaker was shooting footage on Baffin Island, where temperatures can plunge to -50 C. And before that he was in the jungles of Borneo, where the mercury shot in the opposite direction, nearing 50 above.

“I tell ya, no matter how bad you think the cold is, I would trade minus-30 any day for plus-45 and 100% humidity,” said Lickley.
