New Orleans Entergy IMAX to get $1.2M renovation

The Times-Picayune reports:

Depending on how you look at it, Tuesday morning (Sept. 8) marked either the end of an era for New Orleans moviegoers or the beginning of another one. The Audubon of the Americas’ Entergy IMAX Theatre — for years the only 70mm IMAX screen operating in the region — has gone dark while crews prepare it for its next incarnation.

The theater will reopen in October after undergoing a previously announced $1.2 million overhaul, including installation of a digital projection system, according to Aquarium officials. It will also get a new name, being redubbed the Entergy Giant Screen Theater.
