Dickson City approves plan for multiplex with IMAX
November 11, 2009 – 5:30 pmDickson City, Pennsylvania may soon get an IMAX theater. The Scranton Times-Tribune reports:
Borough council Tuesday approved plans for a 14-screen movie theater with IMAX in a 4-2 vote.
“I think this will be great for the overall community,” said Jeff Moore, of developer Keystone Property Associates. “We are hoping the project could be a catalyst for more economic activity in the area.”
Keystone Property Associates and Alliance Entertainment are planning to place the 2,600-seat movie complex adjacent to Kohl’s on Commerce Boulevard.
Noting the most challenging hurdle has been cleared with council approval Tuesday, Mr. Moore said the goal is to open the theater by September.
Borough officials say the theater is expected to bring in about $15,000 in mercantile tax revenue per year.
