WSJ: Imax Sues Cinemark For Breach Of Contract Over “XD” Theaters

Days after Cinemark Inc. (CNK) filed a lawsuit against Imax Corp. (IMAX), seeking to invalidate Imax’s theater-conversion patents, Imax has filed a lawsuit against Cinemark alleging such things as breach of contract, fraud, and misappropriation of trade secrets.
The Imax complaint, filed Thursday in the Supreme Court of the State of New York, County of New York, relates to Cinemark’s Extreme Digital, or “XD” theater format — a large-screen digital format that’s similar to the one used by Imax.
