Gulf Coast Exploreum opens The Light Before Christmas

Stop-motion animation film The Light Before Christmas opens at Mobile, Alabama’s Gulf Coast Exploreum Science Center. The Press-Register reports:
Some seasonal treats cannot withstand intense scrutiny.
For example, why examine a slice of fruitcake under a microscope? You wouldn’t, of course, any more than you would magnify kids’ action figures on the humongous IMAX screen — unless it involved Christmas, everyone’s favorite larger-than-life holiday.
Fortunately, the craft of stop-motion animation has evolved as we see in “The Light Before Christmas” (2007/40 min.), which will be screened daily through Jan. 3 in the 177-seat J.L. Bedsole IMAX Dome Theater at the Gulf Coast Exploreum.
With hummable Christmas classics on the soundtrack and characters inspired by the designs of artist James C. Christensen, the movie is an artful blend of retro sights and sounds, with contemporary embellishments that will delight children and adults.
