The Oklahoman: AMC Quail Springs IMAX executive thinks theater will ‘wow’
December 18, 2009 – 3:52 pmThe Oklahoman reports on Oklahoma City’s newly opened digital IMAX screen at AMC Quail Springs 24:
Graham Jephcott’s first IMAX experience was seeing “Everest” projected on a screen that was eight stories tall and 117 feet wide.
He must’ve been impressed, because he’s now a senior vice president of IMAX Corp.
“It was in the Sydney IMAX Theater in Australia, and it just blew me away,” Jephcott said of that mountainous movie experience. “It was absolutely incredible.”
Of course, the new IMAX screen at AMC Quail Springs Mall 24 can’t match the size of the one in Sydney — the largest such screen in the world — but what Jephcott calls the “wow factor” will be very much the same when the tall blue aliens of “Avatar: An IMAX 3D Experience” loom over Oklahoma City audiences in the newly refitted No. 2 auditorium.
